About the course
Aim
The overall goal of the course is to provide knowledge about machine learning in the context of analyzing data from social media.
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- use machine learning techniques to formulate and solve practical problems
- evaluate and choose between machine learning models
- use machine learning models for prediction and decision making
- implement machine learning models and algorithms in a programming language
- use basic methods to extract information and retrieve text-based social data
- use text processing techniques and prepare documents for statistical modeling
- apply relevant applied machine learning models for analysis of textual data and correct interpretation of results
- basic concept and more advanced techniques to produce recommendations
- demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts in graph theory and information flow
Content
Overview of the machine learning field and its application areas. Machine learning algorithms used in social media. Text mining, natural language processing, large language models, sentiment analysis, recommender systems, and aspects of sociology (graph theory, information flow)
