- master the identification, selection and application of the theory and knowledge areas based on a situation-specific problem
- be able to plan and implement research and industry-related product development projects
- systematically integrate the knowledge acquired during the study period in order to solve a real design product development project.
- apply methodology and subject knowledge from construction and product development area.
- create, analyze and evaluate technical solutions.
- assimilate the contents of the relevant literature and relate their work to it
- critically review, discuss and control a product development project
Content
The course consists of a product development project of a suitable scope, which is obtained from the industry. The project is conducted then by the students in collaboration with a client and includes different phases of product development, from problem definition, requirements specification, functional analysis and idea generation to a final design. The project is presented with written report and oral presentations, both at the university and possibly with the client.
