      About the course

      Aim

After completed course the student should be able to:

      • Apply and validate systematic material and manufacturing process selection methods in a design process.
      • Reflect how the inner structure and properties of materials influences material and manufacturing selection of a product.
      • Relate the influence of manufacturing processes to the inner structure and properties of a material.
      • Analyze the influence of material properties and geometry of a product to its functional and environmental performance.

      Content

Computer exercises using the Granta Edupack for sustainable and systematic material selection and selection of manufacturing process. The link between material selection and manufacturing process selection and material properties as well as the internal structure of the material. Handeling of multiple constraints and objectives in conflict. Hand-in assignment in systematic material selection. Project assignment in sustainable and systematic materials selection.
