        About the course

        Aim

The aim is that the student, after completing this course, should be able to carry out problem solving and calculations within all three parts of the course content.

        Content

The content can be divided into three areas:

        • Functions, limits and continuity: Limits and continuity of functions of 2 or 3 variables. Partial derivatives, differentiability and differential. The chain rule. Potential. Application of the chain rule to partial differential equations.
        • Geometry: Gradient and directional derivatives. Functional surfaces, level surfaces and level curves. Normal, tangent line and tangent plane.
        • Integrals: Double and triple integrals. Repeated integration. Change of variables, especially translation, linear transformation, polar and spherical coordinates. Planar area, volume and mass.
