About the course

Aim

Efter avslutad kurs skall den studerande kunna - redogöra för centrala begrepp, teorier och perspektiv inom socialt arbete som verksamhet, vetenskapligt ämne och forskningsområde - beskriva och förstå professions- och verksamhetsutvecklingens historia i socialt arbete nationellt och internationellt - redogöra för mänskliga rättigheter i relation till socialt arbete - identifiera den problematik som berör socialt utsatta individer och grupper ur ett mångfaldsperspektiv - visa insikt om övergripande mål med insatser i socialt arbete utifrån ett brukar-, organisations- och samhällsperspektiv - visa grundläggande förmåga till vetenskapligt förhållningssätt, kritiskt tänkande och akademiskt skrivande - visa insikt om och förståelse för ett professionsetiskt förhållningssätt - reflektera över socialarbetarrollen i relation till professionell utveckling - visa insikt om betydelsen av kommunikation och samspel i grupp.

Content

I kursen ingår samverkan med verksamhetsföreträdare och brukarorganisationer vilket ger studenten möjlighet att skaffa sig en översiktlig bild av verksamhetsfältet och socialarbetarens roll och funktion i socialt arbete. Professionsetik, bemötande och mänskliga rättigheter är centralt. I denna kurs introduceras även den professionella personliga utvecklingen, PPU i form av reflektionsgrupper. I övningar och uppgifter tränas kommunikation och samspel i grupp. Grundläggande kunskaper i vetenskapligt förhållningssätt, kritiskt tänkande och akademiskt skrivande introduceras. Kursen ger en introduktion till socialt arbete som profession och som vetenskapligt ämne. Det sociala arbetets framväxt och dess idéhistoriska utveckling nationellt och internationellt studeras liksom övergripande forskningsområden inom socialt arbete. Centrala begrepp och teorier i socialt arbete introduceras. Vidare studeras hur sociala problem kan förstås på individ-, grupp- och samhällsnivå med fokus på mångfaldsfrågor. Kursen ger en introduktion till socialt arbete med och för barn, ungdomar, familjer, äldre, personer med funktionsnedsättning, i fattigdom, i missbruk, i kriminalitet eller på annat sätt i socialt utsatta situationer.
