About the course
Aim
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- describe basic ethical theories, principles and concepts.
- use basic ethical theories, principles and concepts to discuss ethical problems related to the natural sciences and technology.
- describe the importance of professional responsibility.
Content
Lectures give an introduction to ethical theory and the application of normative ethical theories in concrete problems, as well as an introduction to professional ethics and professional ethical responsibility. In the seminars, ethical theories are applied to analyse concrete problems, such as value conflicts that can arise in the development and implementation of sustainable technological solutions. How can it be ensured that the transition to new technology isn’t only environmentally friendly, but also ethically defensible? What forms of ethical care needs to be taken and why?
