About the course
Aim
The course provides skills, experience, and practical knowledge in planning, implementing, and presenting a project in digital systems with microprocessors. The project is carried out in groups with other students, emphasizing collaboration and communication. A significant part of the work involves researching information and finding individual solutions, requiring self-reliance.
An additional goal of the course is to foster creativity and provide skills in engineering thinking and experimentation. The projects are conducted as realistically as possible to prepare students for their future professional lives. The course also aims to provide practical experience in electronic construction, both on the technical and administrative levels. This includes imparting knowledge and understanding across various areas.
Upon completing the course, the technologist should be able to:
- develop and execute a project plan
- design and develop an autonomous system
- collaborate and contribute to project work within a team
- present project results both in writing and orally
Content
In the project, both hardware and software are constructed, from requirements specification to the finished product. Lectures and project work aim to provide knowledge in the following areas:
- Project work: Problem formulation, planning, roles, organization, specifications, project documentation, reporting, information retrieval, the LIPS project model, and oral presentation.
- System Theory: Specification, modeling, structuring, construction, partitioning, hierarchies, implementation methods, hardware-software interaction, and debugging methodology.
- Programming: Real-time programming. Programming in assembler and C/C++.
