    About the course

    Aim

The aim of this course is to present a number of application areas within logistics, where quantitative methods are especially suitable. After the course, the students should be able to:

    Written examination:

    • Part 1: explain and create simple models in decision theory
    • Part 2: use different models for inventory control and planning resources in operations.
    • Part 3: conduct an investment analysis taking into account how different aspects affect the present value of future cash flows.
    • Part 4: Carry out project planning while aware of how stochastic process times can affect the outcome of a plan.

    Case study:

    • generate a queueing model for simple logistics cases
    • use dynamic inventory control, cyclical planning, and lead time reduction through order splitting.

    Laboratory:

    • use simulation models for simple logistics cases
