About the course
Aim
The course shall give understanding of dynamic systems and knowledge about the basic methods to analyse and design feedback control system. After completing the course the student should be able to
- Analyse models of dynamical systems in input-output form together with construct and analyse control systems based on PID-controllers. Describe the fundamental basis, possibilities and limitations for feedback systems.
- Analyse control systems using models given in form of frequency function. together with design controllers in frequency domain to obtain desired system performance.
- Carry out analysis of the system and construct control system based on state-space models.
- Model, construct and verify a control system for a laboratory process.
Content
Part I:Differential equations, transfer functions, poles and zerosStability, specifications relationship between dynamic properties and polesFeedback principle, block diagram scheme, feedforwardPID-controller construction and functionInterpretation of control system properties with help of root locus
Part II:Bode diagram, Nyquist diagram, phase and gain marginControllers in frequency domain in form of high and low pass filters to obtain desired system performancesRelationship between frequency and time response Time delayBasic limitations for feedback, robustness criterion
Part III:State-space models, stability, controllability and observabilityState feedback, state reconstruction, feedback from reconstructed state
