About the course
Aim
The course provides a comprehensive coverage of statistical approaches and methods for industrial quality management. After the completed course, the student shall be able to
- explain what process variation is, its occurrence and consequences, and how process variation can be managed.
- explain, select and systematically use different qualitative and quantitative data collection methods and analysis methods and be able to draw informed conclusions from the analysis results in order to solve quality-related problems in the production of goods and services.
- plan, carry out and evaluate the outcome of improvement projects based on different qualitative and quantitative analysis methods in order to solve quality-related problems in the production of goods and services.
- explain different strategies for implementation of statistical quality control and how these can be implemented and contribute to process improvement.
Content
Understanding of variation, statistical analysis methods such as control charts and Design of experiments (DoE), root cause analysis, root cause analysis, measurement system analysis, strategies for implementing metrics-based control and improvement.
