About the course
Aim
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- practically use geometry-oriented simulation for the engineering of production systems and the production aspects in product design.
- describe and discuss modeling and simulation as a tool for engineering and its potential and limitations.
- describe and discuss the aspects of industrial robots which are connected to engineering of production systems with the use of modeling and simulation, for example offline programming.
- describe and discuss virtual manufacturing as part of and its support for the development process for products and production systems, for example PLM, Virtual Commissioning.
Content
Modeling and Simulation is the base of modern engineering. Various kinds of models and simulation tools are used in every engineering effort today. Naturally this applies also to the engineering of production systems and the production aspects in product design, which is the content of this course. Geometry-oriented simulation is in focus.
Virtual manufacturing, the simulation of industrial robot cells and assembly are cases used and covered in this course.
