About the course
Aim
The course aims to give advance theoretical and practical knowledge on CFD analysis of fluid flow problems. After the course, the student should be able to:
- Understand the detailed steps for numerically solving realistic laminar flow problems using the finite volume method and explain the underlying theoretical assumptions
- Perform reliable transient CFD analysis of simpler turbulent flow cases using modern practice guidelines
- Understand the underlying principles and the associated limitations of commonly used scale-resolving CFD simulation methods
- Identify and analyze relevant CFD results using different post-processing techniques, and compare results against relevant theory and open literature with a critical mindset
- Present the work in a clear, informative and scientific way
Content
Governing equations and discretization, turbulence och turbulence models, scale-resolving simulations, implementation of a 2D solver and use of commercial solver.
