About the course
Aim
The energy transition places completely new demands on how companies and organizations should work towards more resource-efficient climate-adapted energy systems. The overall aim of the course is that the student, from a company perspective, should acquire knowledge about the function, design and critical evaluation of public policies, instruments and voluntary initiatives within the energy system area, i.e. for more efficient energy use, increased share of renewable energy, and reduced carbon dioxide emissions. Based on this knowledge, the student gains the skills to analyze, explain and summarize policy instruments within the energy system area. After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- Summarize and explain key public policies, instruments, and voluntary initiatives in the energy system area
- Analyze the design of public policies, instruments, and voluntary initiatives in the energy system area
- Review and synthesize scientific publications related to public policies and instruments, as well as voluntary initiatives in energy systems, effectively communicating findings both orally and in writing.
Content
During the course, the student will in various ways train her/ his ability to critically review and evaluate policies and instruments in the energy system area. Various parts of the scientific research discourse are presented. Participants read research reports, and scientific articles, etc., and critically review them. The participants also make evaluation of instruments in the energy system area and write texts on the topic of instruments in the energy system area.
