About the course
Aim
The aim of this course is to provide solid knowledge and a systems perspective on building energy systems, building energy use and indoor environment related aspects of buildings. After the course the students should be able to:
- describe and analyze indoor environment, thermal comfort and air quality
- describe, perform calculations on, visualize and reflect upon heat, air and moisture transfer in buildings
- describe, perform calculations on, visualize and reflect upon the energy balance of a building
- describe, perform calculations on, visualize and reflect upon heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in buildings
- describe and reflect upon building energy systems in a national and international context.
Content
The aim of the course is to analyze buildings energy systems from a systems perspective. Different types of buildings are considered; residential, offices and industrial buildings. A top-down approach is used in the course, starting with international view, ending in a study of the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems within the building. Visualization and building energy simulation are core parts of the course.
