About the course
Aim
The course deals with two fundamental parts of physics: classical mechanics and electromagnetism. The course aims to provide knowledge in these areas as well as the ability to use the knowledge to solve problems in the area, to some experimental skill and to animate physical processes. After completing the course, the student should:
- know and be able to use the basic concepts, main ideas and theories in the field, as well as the results and consequences of these
- be able to apply the theories by solving problems in the field, thereby choosing appropriate methods and assessing the reasonableness of results obtained
- be able to model a mechanical and/or electromagnetic scenario in the form of an animation or a simple game presented in a graphical interface
- be able to perform simple measurements of importance in mechanics and be able to develop a physical formula by means of experimental problem solving
Content
- Model development: The basic steps of model development - idealization, formalization, calculation and interpretation, robustness. Experimental problem solving - hypothesis, dimension analysis, measurement and error estimation.
