Who takes the course?
About the course
Aim
After completing the course, the participant should
- be able to describe and understand basic concepts, theories, and perspectives in the field of leadership.
- be able to use these concepts, theories, and perspectives in leadership analyses.
- be able to identify group dynamic processes.
Content
The course is based on different perspectives on leadership to understand the conditions of leadership in different situations and contexts. The structural perspective addresses the interaction between managers, leaders and employees under different organizational forms, strategies, and environment. The HR perspective highlights leaders' beliefs in people where motivation and group dynamics are important aspects. The political perspective highlights leaders' attempts to negotiate, exercise power and manage conflicts. Symbolically oriented leaders offer interpretations and convey vision. Culture inside and outside an organization is highlighted within the symbolic perspective. By integrating and switching perspectives, one can get away from simplified models of leadership.
