Who takes the course?
About the course
Aim
After the course the student will be able to:
- create programmable solutions according to specification using an imperative approach
- create abstraction in the form of subroutines and basic composed data types
- know and use two imperative programming languages
Content
The student will aquire basic problem solving skills and genereal programming skills in a suitable beginner language and then move on to a second programming language. The student will move on to more advanced concepts in the second half of the course in order to widen the view on imperative programming and create a foundation to build on in follow up courses. Specific course topics include:
- Buffer handling during input/ouptput
- Basic file system and terminal handling
- Work process, work order and debugging
- Basic types and variabels
- Basic input and output
- Statements and operators
- Abstraction using subroutinees
- Code modules using file separation
- Recursion
- Random numbers
- Command line arguments
- Abstraction using composed types
- Error handling/exceptions
- Pointers and memory management
- Files and streams
- Comparison of and progression to a second language
