      About the course

      Aim

Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:

      • Describe the principles of a systems biology approach
      • Describe possibilities and limitations of small-scale and large-scale systems biology approaches
      • Describe fundamental concepts and methods within systems biology
      • Apply methods within systems biology to analyze data
      • Formulate and analyze systems biology models using computer-based tools
      • Integrate previous knowledge in chemical biology with new knowledge in systems biology
      • Critically review and process scientific articles within the field of systems biology

      Content

In this course, basic systems biology and its application in biomedical research and for medical challenges is studied. The course introduces basic concepts and mathematics used in systems biology and covers both small-scale and large-scale models. Additionally, several computer-based analytical tools used in systems biology are introduced. Through invited lecturers, the course offers an industry-oriented perspective on systems biology.
