About the course
Aim
After completing the course, the student should be able to
- choose and apply methods to problems in all parts I-IV of the course, as described in the course content
- present and justify solutions to tasks within the course content using relevant concepts and clear reasoning
Content
Part I: Maclaurin and Taylor expansion
Taylor's formula. Expansion of elementary functions. Standard expansions. Different forms of the residual term: ordo and Lagrange. Applications include calculation of limit values, investigation of local extreme values and error estimation in approximations.
Part II: Ordinary Differential Equations and Integral Equations
First order linear and separable equations. Integral equations. Linear equations of higher order with constant coefficients.
Part III: Generalized integrals (G), numerical series (N) and power series (P)
G+N: Convergence investigations and elementary estimates. Absolute convergence.
N: Calculation of some series. Leibniz criterion.
P: Convergence radius and range. Maclaurin series. Calculation of certain power series. Differential equations.
Part IV: Integral Applications
Area of flat surfaces. Curve length. Volume of bodies of rotation. Area of rotation surfaces.
