About the course
Aim
After completing the course, the student should be able to
- choose and apply solution methods to problems in both parts of the course A and B, which are described in the course content.
- report and justify solutions to tasks within the course content with using relevant concepts and clear reasoning.
Content
Part A: Topological basics. Functions of several variables. Limit value and continuity. Partial derivatives and differentiability. Differential and the chain rule. Curve and tangent vector. Surface and tangent plane. Gradient and directional derivatives.
Part B: Taylor's polynomial and Taylor's formula. Quadratic forms and local extreme values. Extreme values. Optimization on (non-) compact areas. Optimization under conditions. Double and triple integrals. Change of variable in multiple integrals.
