Aim
Efter avslutad kurs skall den studerande kunna: - redogöra för utvalda nyckelbegrepp och problem inom det samhällsfilosofiska området, - redogöra för centrala teorier i politisk filosofi och samhällsfilosofi, - analysera och värdera pågående politiska och samhälleliga debatter ur ett teoretiskt perspektiv, - i tal och skrift kunna diskutera politiska och samhällsfilosofiska argument, - demonstrera kunskaper och färdigheter i något centralt problemområde, - visa bekantskap med central analytisk-filosofisk teoribildning, - redogöra för något klassiskt arbete som har allmänt filosofiskt intresse, - visa färdighet att inom ramarna för etablerad begreppsbildning och inom befintlig diskussion behandla en filosofisk fråga, - skriftligen genomföra ett längre filosofiskt resonemang i form av en akademisk uppsats, som uppfyller grundläggande krav på akribi, språk, struktur och innehåll, - argumentera för val av olika typer av dokumentation och bedömning av kunskap i filosofiämnets olika delar.

Politisk filosofi och samhällsfilosofi
I kursen skaffar sig studenten förtrogenhet med olika ståndpunkter och teorier inom samhällsfilosofi och politisk filosofi. En central del av kursen utgörs av en introduktion till nyckelbegrepp på detta område. Varje kursmoment fokuserar på ett specifikt begrepp, såsom rättvisa, jämlikhet eller moraliskt ansvar. Studenterna lär sig under kursens gång att analysera och värdera olika definitioner av och teorier om dessa begrepp. En viktig del av kursen utgörs av att visa hur dessa teoretiska kunskaper kan användas för att förstå aktuella politiska och samhälleliga frågor och debatter.
Självständigt arbete
Den studerande väljer i samråd med handledare ett ämne. Genom sin uppsats skall studenten visa exempel på självständighet, till exempel i fråga om tolkning och bedömning av argument. Uppsatserna diskuteras i seminarier.
Ämnesdidaktik
Erfarenheterna från den verksamhetsförlagda utbildningen följs upp och diskuteras. Olika typer av dokumentation och bedömning av kunskap inom filosofiämnet i gymnasieskolan diskuteras och problematiseras.
