Aim
Efter avslutad kurs ska den studerande kunna:
- kommunicera muntligt och skriftligt på engelska
- förstå texter skrivna på engelska av både allmän och mer specifik ekonomisk karaktär
- identifiera och analysera språkliga styrkor och svagheter samt utveckla och applicera strategier för att förbättra sin språkutveckling
- använda det engelska språket både i akademiska och i professionella kontexter
- redogöra för den roll som det brittiska imperiet, samväldet och USA har spelat och spelar för den globala ekonomiska utvecklingen
- diskutera och jämföra de ingående ländernas betydelse för den ekonomiska utvecklingen
- redogöra för ekonomisk doktrinhistoria, främst den klassiska nationalekonomi
- redogöra för ekonomiska teorier och modeller och hur dessa har bidragit till ämnesområdet
Content
Kursen tar sin utgångspunkt i ett ekonomihistoriskt perspektiv. I kursen behandlas det brittiska imperiets, samväldets och USA:s roll i den ekonomiska utvecklingen. Därutöver studeras filosofer och forskare som har bidragit till teoriutvecklingen av det nationalekonomiska fältet. Nationalekonomisk terminologi studeras. I kursen ingår genomgång och fördjupning av grammatik. Kursen innehåller också träning i att använda språket på ett korrekt och situationsanpassat sätt.
